People Services Team Leader
Hemel Hempstead (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office)
Annual salary + bonus and benefits
At Haven, our People Services team supports thousands of team members across our 40 parks and in our central support centre. As we continue to improve our people services, systems and ways of working, we want to make it simpler and easier for our team members and leaders to get the support they need.
We’re looking for an experienced People Services Team Leader who brings together strong HR administration expertise and confident people leadership. You’ll lead a team of People Services Administrators, take ownership of day-to-day service delivery and help us improve how we work.
It's a hands-on role to build a capable team, deliver responsive service, and make a real difference to team experience across Haven. You'll develop your team, shape day-to-day operations, and see the impact of improvements you implement. Our Breath of Fresh Air values - Do It with Pride, Bring the Sunshine and Dare to Care - guide how we work, taking pride in getting things right, supporting each other, and caring about every team member's experience.
What you will be doing:
- Leading and developing your team - Coaching, managing performance, setting clear expectations and fostering ownership, collaboration and accountability.
- Owning day-to-day service delivery - Allocating work, monitoring standards, managing queues, resolving escalations and balancing responsiveness with quality and accuracy.
- Bringing HR administration expertise - Overseeing employee lifecycle transactions, resolving complex queries and ensuring processes are accurate, secure and consistent.
- Own operational compliance and controls: Ensure HR processes and controls are carried out consistently, oversee routine compliance checks and audits, follow up on gaps and exceptions, and work with the ER and Policy team to resolve issues and embed improvements.
- Driving continuous improvement - Tracking service levels, spotting recurring problems, improving processes, reducing avoidable queries and maintaining clear resources for self-service.
- Building cross-functional partnerships - Working with Workday, People team and business leaders to solve problems, supporting implementation and embedding improvements whilst keeping team member and leader needs front and centre.
What we’d like you to bring:
- Team leadership experience - Proven ability to lead, coach and manage a team; set expectations; give feedback and address performance issues.
- Strong HR administration expertise - Hands-on experience with employee lifecycle processes, data accuracy, confidentiality, compliance controls and operational audits.
- Service management capability - Experience managing busy services, prioritising competing demands and handling queries and escalations with sound judgement.
- Performance-driven mindset - Confidence using service data and performance measures to identify problems and drive measurable improvements.
- Communication and collaboration skills - Clear communicator who builds relationships, works effectively across teams and takes a practical approach to simplifying processes and improving experience.
- Desirable: HR shared-services background, case management or knowledge-base tools, HR system experience (Workday or similar).
