Early Career Story

I started with Haven through the kickstart scheme in June 2021 after a long battle trying to find employment during the pandemic. I found it very difficult to leave secondary school education to find a full-time job that could offer me the stability and progression that I was craving, I just didn’t know where to begin.
Previous to Haven, I had no experience in HR, however the resourcing team took me under their wing and provided me with excellent support, encouragement and mentoring throughout my 6-month placement, during this I learnt a world of knowledge. On completion of my kickstart scheme, I was offered a full time, permanent position within the resourcing team which I was so happy to take!
In 2023 I moved from the resourcing team to a People Administration role, which has opened a second realm of career opportunity for me. Within this role, I am doing a level 3 apprenticeship in data analytics which is helping me develop specific technical skills that will be forever valuable to my career. This chapter of my learning has been incredibly interesting, and I am so thankful for the opportunities and guidance I have been given to put me on a path that utilises my strengths and interests.
The culture at Haven is brilliant, the core values that Haven strive towards are something I can really relate to, and I feel them in every interaction that I have around the office. I have felt so supported and positively encouraged from the day I started, and they have always prioritised my personal development - they really practice what they preach!
